In this case, scientists have come up with a new way of applying the coating (electrochemic al plating) which works at much lower temps than the traditional method (spraying a plasma form of the synthetic hydroxyapatite . In addition to more even coating, it confers the benefit of working at lower temperatures. As a result, organic chemical or antibiotics could be embedded into the implant to aid in new bone growth or inhibit infection.
