Fossil find puts river on scientific cutting edge

When a fossilized plesiosaur was discovered in July at Lake Francis Case by 11-year-old Devon Zimmerman of Sioux City, Iowa, it extended science's knowledge not only of the beast but also of events that shook the Great Plains landscape sometime between 72 million and 74 million years ago.
